In a perfect world,
(someone like) Robbie Rist
WOULD be behind the buttons
for the next McCartney album.
No, really !!
Coz even though The Cute One may have been
(and, on a good day, can still be)
- A great showman
- A fabulous vocalist
- A gifted arranger
- A supreme melodist
- A phenomenal musician,
he's never ever been anyone I'd consider to be
a fine or even accomplished "producer."
Sure,
when his guard is all the way down
and he's left to his own devices,
Paul CAN create worthy minutes of chaos in the sonic backyard
so to speak
(eg: both "McCartney" albums,
the Fireman and "Liverpool Sound Collage,"
.......and even "Holly Days" !!)
But lock him in the studio of his choice
with Our Brave Grumprist in charge
for a mere week or two?
Now THAT would be
a Macca album I'd BUY,
without the usual two decades' hesitation,
