I'm not about to compare anyone with the Beatles directly but for someone
progressing their style whilst retaining melodicism I would flag up Damon
Albarn. All the Blur albums are distinctly stylistically different whilst
being always melodic and commercial, then on through Gorillaz and The Good,
The Bad and The Queen.

Prince also did it between about '78-'88.
