Well, I think McCartney is great also. But his solo work in the last 3
decades tends to be a bit spotty at best. I listened to the new single and
it didn't make me do cartwheels but it's pleasant enough I guess. I do know
he can do better though... Fine Line was a terrific tune and I played it a
lot - a whole lot.
At this point I don't expect all that much from my ancient heroes and I'm
sometimes surprised by their spurts of still remaining genius. Now that I've
reached the archaic age of 50 I know just how hard it can be to still remain
remotely viable. Perhaps we expect too much from our early icons?
Anyway I hope that I'll be able to release something interesting in another
14 years (when I'm 64) but who knows...
