Good morning, all.

For those of you who are interested, a mix of health issues and yesterday's ruling by the Copyright Royalty Board, which has raised beyond reach the royalty rates for many radio webcasters, has necessitated me to close down, for at least the forseeable future, my 24/7 Pure Pop radio stream. In addition, mostly because of health issues, I have decided to end my Pure Pop radio show on WEBR with the final show on April 29. I will, however, continue to write about our favorite music on my pop culture web site, buhdge.

I know that opinions are divided on the royalty issue, so I won't climb on any soapbox here. If you want to read about it, the web is bursting at the seams with information.

I am truly saddened about the latest turn of events regarding the royalty rates. I loved programming the 24/7 stream. I got an e-mail yesterday from a listener in Pennsylvania who was thrilled to find an online station that played the kind of music he loves. I'm really not trying to blow my own horn here, but comments like that are the reason any of us online webcasters do what we do. It's very gratifying.

My last two shows on WEBR will be this Sunday, April 22, and Sunday, April 29, 12-2 pm EST (you can listen at http://www.fcac.org/webr). I'll be ending my long run at the station with two interviews--this Saturday, April 22, Seth Swirsky will be my guest, and on April 29, the great Bill Lloyd, who's been on Pure Pop many times, going way back. It will be a pleasure to speak with these two great artists before Pure Pop fades into the sunset...

And then, nose to the grindstone, I'll be working on buhdge. For those of you who have listened to Pure Pop over the years, my thanks for your continued support. You have been very good to me, and I appreciate it.

See you on buhdge.

Alan
