My own problem with Sufjan is that he reminds me a lot of a grown up 
version of Max Fischer from RUSHMORE.  He should know better.

Musically, he's all right, but there are plenty of other artists doing 
better work in the same general stylistic area.  He's not a patch on 
John Southworth, for example.
