Anna,

Exactly what is it about the "Stacy's Mom" video that you were "mightily
pissed" about? I'm just curious.

I do understand what you're saying about FOW concerts, though. My wife and I
saw them at the 9:30 club here in your old stomping grounds of Wash, D.C.
and were thoroughly unimpressed. Chris didn't seem too happy to be there,
and the band was projecting that "We're doing you a favor" thing the whole
show. They even threw down their guitars on their way off the stage in
(mock) disgust, which made me sorry I spent the money to see them in the
first place. They also seemed to toss off the songs. If they were joking, it
didn't come through like that to me.

However, I can't say I feel this way about the band's records. As I think I
wrote previously, the first album is just okay, the second brilliant, the
third, a mixed bag but great overall, and the fourth (comp) another mixed
bag with two great new songs. I've only heard the new single, which is just
okay, I think, and it's nowhere near as good as the two new songs from the
comp.

That said, I'd take their failures over just about any other band pop on the
radio or satellite radio these days. And I'm really looking forward to the
new album.

I remember hating the "Stacy's Mom" video, and being
mightily pissed over that, but I don't remember an
outcry over the popularity of the song or band in
general. In fact, every time one of the pop bands
gets a little airplay, the chorus of "Maybe NOW Power
Pop will finally get its due!" seems to echo
throughout the hallowed Audities halls. Oddly, I
think there is always Power Pop on the radio in some
form so I don't worry about it so much.

I am on the fence now with FoW. I used to love them,
but a few lackluster concerts turned me off a little.
Haven't heard the new album but HATED the single.
