Matt's a terrific singer/songwriter from the Bay Area. Originally from
Massachusetts.
I saw him open for Marty Willson-Piper of The Church at Cafe North Star in
Philly around six or seven years ago. Very literate. Turns out also that we
had some friends in common from New England. We both went to some snooty New
England prep schools in our misspent youth.
He went from opening gigs to headlining the TLA (big Philly club) in fairly
short order. He's gotten big support from WXPN-FM in PA as well (the state's
only indie station of any note).
Haven't heard his recent stuff. But I do have two of his earlier CDs and
thoroughly enjoy them.
He's worth exploring further.
