Jeff Murphy - enough Shoe-isms that if you are a fan of the band, you'll
like it. Not groundbreaking, but enjoyable.
FOW - another solid platter. Some really catchy songs, some that haven't
caught on with me yet. Probably the equal overall to WIM, which I thought
started strong but weakened towards the end. Fun to play "spot the era that
we are aping on this particular song". Will the kids like it? maybe, but
it's a long shot.
Wilco - I'm a fan - not a huge fan, but a fan nonetheless. What I've heard
is plain boring to my ears. YMMV.
Future Clouds & Radar - 90 minutes of music, a 2 disk set. As such, there
is some filler. Not as "power" as Cotton Mather, but the unmistakeable
voice is there, and there is plenty of pop. I've only made it through the
set once so far, but there's enough nice touches that I know I will spend
additional time with release. That's more than I can say for 80% of the
stuff that hits my player. The arrangements/instrumentation are more
complex than CM. The mellower CM songs always took awhile to hit with me,
but once they did they really stuck. I'm hoping that will be the case here.
