Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh,,
Sorry to disagree, but I find (at least so far) Kontiki to be far more
listenable....NOT that there aren't several high spots on the Apples
disc....it just that to my ears the CD as a whole would have benefited from
some trimming down. There seems to be a lot of fluff thrown in that if it
weren't there would have made the disc about 15 minutes shorter and a whole
heck of a lot tighter. In short, to me, the high spots are really good, but
the low spots drag the disc down.
Speaking of Cotton Mather, have you sprung for the new Future Clouds And
Radar CD? I haven't....yet, but plan to do so, soon.
Steve

Like josh said about Lewis Taylor's LOST ALBUM...someone should mention this
disc here...
So I will.
First I gotta say this..."Who has the microdot?" Gimme two, please.
Nah...it's nothing new...but damn...I sure do like it anyway. The
Beatlesque/ELO/Styx/Boo Radleys vibe here is deep...it weaves and bobs and
it comes and goes but it's always there...either in the psychedelic
trappings between songs or in the pop tunes interspersed in between. To my
ears, it's reminiscent of Cotton Mather's decade old (yikes)
psych-laced/acid-drenched effort "KONTIKI", but this, well, it's less
abrasive and far more listenable overall.
In short...lotsa toe-tappin'/radio-ready fare...(in my universe)and a killer
pop tune around every bend on this one...
