I'll give you half these points as credited to The Beatles. They did not
invent breaking up. CREAM were stupid and ugly and assholes to each other
long before Yoko moved her bed into the Beatles recording sessions. And
subsequently, Eric and Ginger and Jack Bruce had post-Cream bands and solo
recordings (though some other historian can chronologize the exact releases
versus John and George's pre-split solo works).
I'd also have to say that The Who and The Stones evolved simultaneously as
rock bands. In fact, I'd say The Who defined stadium rock FIRST. The Beatles
might have filled more stadiums but they were still a pop band when they
hung up their tour bus.
