I too saw the Posies in Philadelphia, at the Chestnut Caberet in 1990-91,
touring for Dear 23. It was a great show, and I don't recall anything
beyond the boys having a couple of beers on stage. They commented that they
had to forego the cheesesteaks because they are (or were) both vegetarians.
They were in fine voice, well-mannered and did an awesome version of What
Little Remains, perhaps my favorite tune on Failure.
I saw them again at SXSW in 2004. Almost a different band entirely--
extremely loud, with lots of feedback, guitar shredding, etc. Not that that
is a bad thing, per se, but it seemed to me that the beauty of the songs,
the harmonies, etc. just got lost.
