I guess this is the "Konfessions of A Kiss Fanatic" day :-)
Got into KISS around '77 with "Alive II" which I bought with my own
hard-earned cash at the local mall. When they came to Maple Leaf Gardens in
'79 for the 'Dynasty' Tour my buddies and I had to go. We waited in line at
the old A & A's Record warehouse on Eglinton Avenue in Scarborough (Gary Pig
might remember that place) for 5 hours to get tickets. Total cost: $7.50
Who knew it was going to be the last appearance by the band with the
original line-up. Saw them a few times after that but it wasn't the same...
Until 1991 and the "Revenge" album. I was writing my own music magazine at
the time and managed to squeeze some free passes out of Polygram Records
here in Toronto for the Cow Palace gig in Michigan. Unbeknownst to me, the
gig turned out to be one of three tapings for the "Alive III" album. Met the
band backstage and the pro photographer I took with me to shoot pictures
screwed up the photos with me and Gene (who spent nearly 15 minutes
discussing my magazine and asking for copies cause we had put them on the
cover). Nice guy actually. Paul Stanley was a no show at the
meet-n-greet...so I still don't have his autograph. Though I did get Eric
Singer and Bruce Kulick along with Gene's.
I have hesitated to see any of the re-reunion tour shows for fear of reuning
that great memory in Michigan. I just can't see it being as exciting or
interesting as when I last saw them.

I still think the best song on any of those solo releases was Frehley's
"Fractured Mirror"....haunting. However, I'm one of the rare few who
actually likes, and still listens to, Simmons' solo album. There two great
POP songs on that album ("Mister Make Believe" and "Man Of A 1,000
Faces")....which, along with "When You Wish Upon A Star" turned a lot of
KISS fans off.

Got it for my birthday in November...the bonus DVD was Madison Square Garden
in '77. Very cool. Fans might also wanna check out the recently released
"ALIVE" boxed set...containing the three Alive albums and the December 31,
1999 Millennium Concert.
