I couldn't agree more with Gary's er, confirmation. Seriously, if you're a Beatles fan and you haven't read this book, you're denying yourself some amazing insights into their music. MacDonald beautifully places Beatles tracks into their proper context in terms of Beatles activities, external events, evolution from other songs, influence of other artists, etc, etc.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Sadly, Ian committed suicide a few years ago. He should have been walking around with his arms in the air, shouting, "I wrote 'Revolution In The Head'".
