I'm starting to notice that the movies, TV, and commercials are playing cooler pop songs than the radio anymore.  
   
  I heard the 88s in a movie; I think it was "You And Me And Dupree"?
   
  I saw and heard the Old 97s in "The Break Up", the Vince Vaughn/Jennifer Aniston movie.
   
  I think the Pernice Brothers have a Sears commercial.
   
  And there's others I can't recall just now.  But it seems that everyone has a better idea of what pop music is, than pop radio does, right now.
