Hey !!

I'm just now back from a loooooooooooong visit up to O Canada
where I was researching.......

a Rock/pop book,
actually!

<< Don't know if this was mentioned before, but Ian McDonald's
'Revolution In The
Head' has been my favorite of the last several years.
(I'm pretty sure it's been discussed on this board- people were unhappy
that he
seemed a bit critical of George) >>

Agreed,
one and a half hundred thousand per cent,
on the late, VERY great Ian MacDonald's book.
It is an absolute Must for each and every BeatleBookshelf
to say the very least.

Although, I believe Geoff Emerick's otherwise quite fab "Here, There
and Everywhere"
was a MUCH greater offender in the anti-George field
than "Rev in the Head" ....or any other such book I can even recall, in
fact.

True, most each and every BeatleBook has its deep-seeded bias
(Philip Norman of "Shout! The Beatles in Their Generation" is obviously
a John guy,
while Geoff's a lifelong Paul person ...not to mention employee;
ditto Mark Lewisohn).

But when such literary favoritism becomes SO over-riding
as to color the entire slant of the text
(not to mention sometimes even twist and distort the facts,
as Geoff often does)
I have no choice than to file the offending tome
straight back in the rack alongside Geoffrey Giuliano ;-)

That all said,
some other (unfortunately quite OOP however, I do believe)
rock/pop books worth tracking down:

"Rock Odyssey" by Ian Whitcomb
"Backstage Passes" by Al Kooper
and even "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" by Simon Napier-Bell,

Gary "still so proudly Lost In The Grooves" Pig
