All this talk about hearing new records at the record shop that make you stop to take notice and maybe even get you to make that eventful purchase got me thinking...what a great idea for a Valentine's Day topic!

Here's what comes to mind off the top of my head...

 TALKING HEADS 'Remain In Light'
Walked into the local indie shop Co-Op Records and caught this one on the turntable. Stuck around through Side 2, especially to watch another customer wearing some kind of space helmet already singing along to 'Listening Wind.' That was bizarre. Before this, I had heard a song or two but that was it.

 POLICE 'Zenyatta Mondatta'
Before this album, I didn't care too much for the band, having only heard stuff like 'Roxanne' and 'Message in a Bottle,' but it was by experiencing this full album upon a Co-Op visit that made the eventual connection.

 DELBERT McCLINTON 'Cost of Living'
Skip ahead a few decades to more recent experience I had while wandering the local Borders. I had been aware of this guy purely by name, but was startled by the diversity of material and genres represented on one disc. This wasn't an immediate grab, but I did eventually make the purchase.

 Anybody else?
