They don't call the recorded legacy of Richard Thompson "doom and gloom" for
nothing. But he has also written some beautiful sad songs. I am especially
fond of a couple of tunes which featured the wonderful vocals of the former
Mrs. Thompson, Linda. "Withered and Died" -- " I've only sad stories to tell
to this town/My dreams have withered and died."

Then there is "Dimming of the Day"--

This old house is falling down around my ears
I’m drowning in the river of my tears
When all my will is gone you hold me sway
I need you at the dimming of the day

Save one tissue for me in that box that's going around!

Steve
