Then there's Lou Reed's entire "Berlin" album. "Sad" would be a 
positive spin on the album.

Did anyone mention Carly Simon's "that's the way I always heard it 
should be"...(I think that's the title).  I still remember many 
years ago, the moment of really hearing the lyrics to that song for 
the first time, despite having heard it many times before.
