hey, audities...

i happen to have some first-hand information on Donnie Davies, since i'm a TV reporter and i exchanged emails with his publicist for a story. i pulled the plug on the story when i learned Davies had been "outed" as a dallas-based actor.

when i sent the email canceling my interview request, the publicist's reply seems to concede the point that Davies is NOT "for real."

judge for yourself; here's the exchange...

Whether you believe Donnie is real or not is only one part of his story. The real story is the amount of attention his message has received in spite of being banned on the two most popular internet outlets for "personal expression," YouTube and MySpace. MySpace even removed the band's profile as well as Donnie's.

The music video for "The Bible Says" has been seen by nearly 2 million people in the last 10 days. But Google and Fox Interactive don't think people should have access to it even though with little digging you can find thousands of messages that are much more violent and offensive on either site. The issue with Donnie Davies message is that people are actually watching it.

I am just letting off a little steam. I understand if this doesn't qualify as news at Fox. After all, according to your interactive media department, the video doesn't even exist.

sorry, shane, i did a little more digging and found there's a bit of a question as to whether donnie's "for real" or merely an actor.

since we do a news broadcast, not an entertainment show, we try to cover stories that actually happened, as opposed to stories that are hoaxes.

hope you guys can understand our position... i'd sure hate to be the guy telling viewers something is real, when it's actually staged.
