I don't think anyone has mentioned "Moon" by Tony Fletcher. Hilarious,
but tragically sad. Even if a fraction of the Keith Moon stories are
true, it's well worth reading.

As is "Shakey" about Neil Young. But not funny like Moon. But just as
interesting.

I was remiss in leaving out Johnny Rogan's "The Severed Alliance," which
is 
a terrific book, and Jonny Green's "A Gang of Our Own," which is a
memoir of 
his years as a roadie for The Clash.
And for a truly harrowing read there's always Deborah Curtis' (widow of
Ian 
Curtis) "Touching From A Distance."

One of the best rock books I've ever read is Bill Flanaga's U2 bio "At
The 
End of the World," which chronicles the making of "Achtung Baby," and 
"Zooropa." There's a real "you-are-there" sense to the book. Regardless
of 
what you think of U2, it's a really compelling piece of journalism.
