Three books:
1. My Magpie Eyes Were Looking At the Prize, David Cavanagh. An excellent
and exhaustive history of Alan McGee's Creation Records imprint.
2. Learn How To Die, Greg Kot. Slim, but eminently readable Wilco/Uncle
Tupelo bio by Chicago Tribune rock critic. Also a heck of a nice guy.
3. Kill Your Idols, Jim DeRogatis: Chicago Sun-Times rock critic and others
reconsider classic rock records. Caution: Both Pet Sounds and Sgt. Pepper
come in a for a beatdown. Though the book did make me reconsider my
reverence for Beatles records post-Revolver.
