Hi there,
Just got the Locksley disc and this is joyous stuff - makes me
want to jump up and dance (not a pretty sight, trust me). Mr Pazur had this
in his best of 2006 but it'll rightly feature in the top 10 of 2007 for a
lot of people on this list. Quality pop...
Orange Juice - Saw them at their peak back in the day and what I liked most
about them (apart from the glorious music) was that Edwyn insisted they not
do encores. They built their set up to a crescendo and left the punters
gasping for more - wish some modern bands would follow suit. Also, the Fire
Engines played two 15 minute sets when I saw them when they'd just started
out and I always thought that was pretty cool too...
Police - Caught them just before their debut album came out at Strathclyde
University and a punker down the front spent ages gobbing on Sting. He
played on while trying to smash the guy's head in with his bass. The
bouncers ejected the punk eventually. Sting's olive green jumpsuit was in a
sorry state by this time. Happy days!
