I guess this is where the term 'guilty pleasure' makes sense...cause
Foreigner was an influence for me at one point when I was starting to really
dig rock beyond the obvious KISS introduction for a teenage boy.
I'll defend 'Double Vision' and most of the first album (forget "Cold As
Ice" and "Feels Like The First Time"....the killer track was "Long, Long Way
From Home"...the only song not written by Mick Jones). 'Head Games' is where
it fell down for me....especially hearing Lou Gramm spouting inane drivel
about 17 year-old girls. Ick.
I've heard the terms "despised" and "crap" levelled in the same breathe as
Foreigner so I guess I'm not hip or cool (though that was never a
consideration anyway). And I'll gladly confess to Boston's debut, Triumph's
"Just A Game" and the first Motley Crue album before Elektra Records decided
to try and remix it...oh, and any Ozzy-era Black Sabbath.
