I know the debate goes back & forth on the release
date of this (1979 or 1980). Fact is it came out at
the end of 79 and greated the 80's with the BEST ALBUM
OFF ALL-TIME.
Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you "London Calling" by The
Clash
Sincerely I remain,

Not that this is a feeble attempt to stop the Paula
Kelly thread but...
I host a radio show called the "80's
Underground"...and I'm toying
with the idea of doing a 2-hour special on the
*essential* indie
rock albums of the 80s. I have my faves listed below,
but I'd be
curious to hear from other fans (or fanatics) of the
genre. I need
about 25-30 songs to fill the timeslot.
What are the essential/influential, must-own
indie/underground albums
of the 1980's?
(my picks):
1. THE SMITHS - The Queen Is Dead
2. REM - Murmur
3. THE CURE - Pornography
4. REPLACEMENTS - Tim
5. THE PIXIES - Doolittle
6. HUSKER DU - Flip Your Wig
7. KILLING JOKE - s/t
8. JESUS & MARY CHAIN - PsychoCandy
9. NEW ORDER - Power Corruption & Lies
10. STONE ROSES - s/t
11. SONIC YOUTH - Daydream Nation
12. MINUTMEN - Double Nickels On Th Dime
13. X - Under The Big Black Sun
14. JANE'S ADDICTION - Nothing's Shocking
15. ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN - Coean Rain
16. CHAMELEONS UK - Strange Times
17. GARY NUMAN - I, Assasin
18. BILLY BRAGG - Talking With The Taxman About Poetry
19. THE FALL - This Nation's Saving Grace
20. SPLIT ENZ - Time & Tide
What am I mising here? Hit me!
Jeff
