Hey, I've got a "pop glitterati" answering machine message too! Back in 1996
I interviewed Glen Burtnik about his then-current solo album Palookaville (a
great pop album, by the way). One night he called me at home, but I missed
the call 'cause I was at a James McMurtry show. I called Glen back the next
day and had a great talk about music.

The reason I came across the answering machine tape was that last week I
transcribed the entire interview to eventually post on my blog...I'm trying
to archive all the interviews I did during a short-lived stint as a rock
journalist. It was a fun hobby and I got to talk to some of my favorite
folks including Lisa Germano, Tommy Shaw, Texas songwriter Michael Hall,
Kurt Neumann (of BoDeans), The Rainmakers, and Walter Salas-Humara of The
Silos.

It was always a thrill whenever my phone would ring and one of my favorite
musicians was on the other end of the line.

I'll let y'all know when the Burtnik interview goes up. He had lots of
interesting things to say...

Rock.
