New albums I'm digging:

CITY MORNING SONG -- Sarah Shannon: ex-Velocity Girl singer returns
with her best record since COPACETIC, a mature album with some
Bacharachesque touches (muted trumpets, major-seventh piano chords,
that sort of thing) that avoids retro kitsch. Terrific album, out two
weeks from yesterday, available now on eMusic.

HEADACHES AND MOODSWINGS -- The 20 Belows: Danish pop-punk band that's
picking up where the Mr. T Experience left off (now that Dr. Frank is
off being a bestselling young-adult author) in the "most adorable band
ever" sweepstakes. There's a fine line between pop-punk and power pop
at one end of the spectrum, and these guys are straddling it.

Recently popped up on the iPod:

"Get It On (Bang A Gong)" -- T. Rex
"We Almost Lost Detroit" -- Gil Scott-Heron
"Love Buzz" -- Nirvana
"Very Loud" -- The Shout Out Louds
"Blue Monday" -- New Order
"Flowers in the Sky" -- The Revolving Paint Dream
"The Next Movement" -- The Roots
"So Little Deserve" -- Heavenly
"Pavanne (Thoughts of a Septuagenarian)" -- EST
"Kicker of Elves" -- Guided By Voices
"Fuck Was I" -- Jenny Owen Youngs
"Seen the Doctor" -- Michael Penn
"A Man and a Woman" -- Patricia Barber
"Girls Bike" -- The Aluminum Group
"Bad Bad Implications" -- Godstar
