Here's a repost from a email I received from Kent Benjamin (from Pop Culture
Press) :

Since moving to Austin in 1994, Ron Flynt has become a vital and important
part of the Austin music community, both as a performer, sideman, engineer,
and record producer through his recording studio, Jumping Dog Studio. Over
the past dozen years, Flynt has recorded, produced, engineered or helped
literally hundreds of musicians in the Austin albums with their own recorded
music projects, often giving special deals and too-generous payment plans to
those who could barely afford to record with no label support. In September
2006 Flynt was badly injured while finishing out a new location for the
studio, and as these things happen, right at the same time his wife Brooke
lost her longtime job when the computer company for which she had long
worked shut down its Austin operation, meaning the family had no medical
insurance. This website, in conjunction with the benefit, is designed for
friends and fans of the Flynts to be able to help them out in their time of
need, not to mention in some way pay them back for the friendship and
support (and meals) they provided to local musicians.

In November, 2006, Penny Jo Pullus and Scrappy Jud Newcomb,
two close friends who've worked extensively with Ron Flynt over the past ten
years decided to take matters into their own hands and launch the Our Man
Flynt benefit, to be held Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, from 9pm onwards at the
Continental Club on South Congress Avenue in Austin to raise a bit of money
to help the Flynts with their medical expenses.

All moneys raised by the event and through the website are
going into a non-profit account for the Flynts. Contributions are completely
tax deductible. No money from the event or donated to this website goes to
any administrative expense or to anyone else.

Contributions can be made directly to the Our Man Flynt Fund
directly through the PayPal link on this account. We urge you to please give
generously. You can contribute at www.ournanflynt.com
