Has anyone picked up the brand new album by America, that's produced by Adam
Schlesinger and James Iha?
It's an absolute winner, and includes tracks from Nada Surf, Maplewood, and
Schlesinger.
I was really tickled to see the Maplewood (maplewoodfeelsgood.com) track
featured as their album is for my money, the best evocation of the canyon
rock sound in the last 5 years.
Another one to look out for in this vein is a guy named Jon Busey, who's
recording under the moniker Silvergirl (more of a Gene Clark, Gram Parsons
vibe though). You can find Silvergirl among my top friends on myspace at
myspace.com/snapcracklepop. Don't think there's an album out yet, but the
sounds at his myspace are stunning.
