Hi Jim,

For Power-Pop guitar heroes, I'd definitely take:

  Chris Bell from Big Star
  Alex Chilton from Big Star
George Harrison from the Beatles (he also did very good stuff, solo and with the Wilburys)
  Rick Nielson from Cheap Trick
  Raymond McGuinley from Teenage Fanclub
(Jim) Roger McGuinn from the Byrds
  Dave Davies from the Kinks
Bill Pitcock from the Dwight Twilley Band
Jon Auer from the Posies (solo and Big Star)
  Jason Faulkner from Jellyfish
Brian May from Queen would count some of the time.
Can't say for sure who, but the guy from the New Pornographers.
The Shins have a good guitarist too.
Matthew Sweets guitarists (Quine? and Lloyd?).

As for songs; I think it would be great if they included:

  Day Tripper - The Beatles
Hold Me Tight - The Beatles
  Help! - The Beatles
(darn!!! almost anything by the Beatles)
In The Street - Big Star
You Get What You Deserve - Big Star
  September Gurls - Big Star
I Am The Cosmos - Chris Bell
You And Your Sister - Chris Bell
  My Sharona - The Knack
In The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
  Sparky's Dream - Teenage Fanclub
  Radio - Teenage Fanclub
  Neil Jung - Teenage Fanclub
I've Been Waiting - Matthew Sweet
I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better - The Byrds
Shake Some Action - The Flamin' Groovies
You're No Fun - The Scruffs
Time To Let You Go - Enuff Z Nuff
Gone For Good - The Shins
Lookin' For The Magic - Dwight Twilley
King Of All Of The World - The Old 97s
  Can't Get A Line - The Old 97s
  Valentine - The Old 97s
heck there's a lot more too!!!

My 13 year old got Guitar Hero for Christmas - and within weeks had used
his own money to buy Guitar Hero II. He lives and breathes these games
right now. The best element from my perspective is that he now loves
Cheap Trick (Surrender is on of the games) and wants to hear more from
Matthew Sweet (Girlfriend is included too).

So my question becomes - what other PowerPop songs should we lobby to
have included in future versions of Guitar Hero?
