MUSWELL HILLBILLY, for other interested parties I eagerly recommend
"Sleepwalker" and "Juke Box Music" from the former, and at least
"Muswell Hillbilly" and
"20th Century Man" from the latter. And I betcha Gary Pig Gold will

wellllllll, now that you asked,
There was the time I joined Simply Saucer and a bunch of other
Hamilton, Ontario, Kanada-based Kultists
on a roadtrip to Buffalo NY to witness the Kinks' latest tour
("Schoolboys In Disgrace" at Loew's Theatre, I believe it was;
and say what one will about the band's early-Seventies "concept albums"
but those productions absolutely came fully and LOUDLY alive when
performed on stage.
.......Yes, they r-a-w-k-e-d in the u-s-a !!)
anyways, Arriving early in the afternoon with hours to kill before
showtime,
we all ended up hanging out in the alley behind the theatre,
waited at the Stage Door to see who or what would show up,
and sure enough, a nice long car containing Raymond Douglas Davies
appeared around 4 PM.
Head Saucer Edgar Breau, a loyal, life-long Kinksman of the HIGHEST
order,
stood in rapt, silent awe as Ray mingled momentarily amongst us
chatting and signing autographs.
Then suddenly, still without a single word,
Edgar bent down, propelled his tiny frame skyward,
and within seconds had wrapped himself clear around Ray's neck!
This being the pre-Mark David Chapman days,
only cheers filled the air as Edgar slowly but surely slipped back down
to land in a happy heap at Ray's feet
as the object of his affections merely adjusted his sunglasses,
pulled his camel-hair coat tighter,
and wafted slowly inside to sound check.
Too bad their were no cell cameras or YouTube back then,
as I only hope you can all well imagine,
