First off, I do think they're all worth getting, but I can certainly
understand a wish to cherry-pick. Here are some suggestions:
I think SCHOOLBOYS IN DISGRACE is terribly underrated, but you've got to at
least get the sublime "No More Looking Back," plus "I'm In Disgrace," "The Hard
Way" and maybe "Jack The Idiot Dunce."
WORD OF MOUTH includes both "Do It Again" and Dave Davies' awesome "Living On
A Thin Line," so you need both of those.
LOW BUDGET wore out its welcome with me in short order, but your mileage may
vary. (Maybe mine would, too--I should listen to it again and see what
happens.) I like "One Of The Survivors" on PRESERVATION, and "A Face In The
Crowd" on SOAP OPERA, and MISFITS gives you "Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy" and "Live
Life."
Is GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT on emusic? Well, if not, its best track
"Better Days" is included on the COME DANCING best-of set, as is the non-album
B-side "Long Distance." If STATE OF CONFUSION is available, check out the
title track; if not, at least the singles "Come Dancing" and "Don't Forget To
Dance" are on the best-of set.
Resist with all your might the urge to get the ONE FROM THE ROAD live tracks
included on COME DANCING. (And, while you already have SLEEPWALKER and
MUSWELL HILLBILLY, for other interested parties I eagerly recommend "Sleepwalker"
and "Juke Box Music" from the former, and at least "Muswell Hillbilly" and
"20th Century Man" from the latter. And I betcha Gary Pig Gold will have more to
add here...!
