Thanks again to all of you who helped THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL RADIO
survive these precarious past few weeks. Although we and the other programmers are
splitting off from Syracuse Community Radio, the split was carried out
amicably and to the benefit of all parties. The webcast is shut down for now, but
it will resume, probably at or around the beginning of February. You people
and your generosity made it happen, and we can't thank you enough.
If you haven't donated yet, and would still like to do so, your
TAX-DEDUCTIBLE DONATION remains more than welcome, and is vital to our efforts to
continue The Best Three Hours On The Friggin' Planet. In fact, we will continue
the cool incentives that were offered to donors during the webcast crisis;
donations that reach me before the end of January will qualify for the same
incentive packages as before, as listed below.
The procedure has changed a little bit. From now on, your check should
be made out to WESTCOTT COMMUNITY CENTER, with a note that it's a "Targeted
Donation: Webcast." You should still mail your checks to me, at Carl
Cafarelli, 5540 Taormina Drive, NY, 13041. PayPal donations are kind of a hassle
for now, but if it's your preferred option, contact me and we'll work something
out.
Here's the rundown:
We have amassed a nice collection of promo CDs to be awarded to our kind
donors, courtesy of Not Lame, Kool Kat Musik, Mint Records, Laughing Outlaw
Records, Rhythm Barrel Records, Marty Rudnick, Anny Celsi, Steve Barton, Bart
Mendoza, and probably a few others still to come. Here's our incentive
breakdown:
Anyone making a donation will receive FOUR free CDs from JAM Recordings: the
latest from JEREMY, PHIL ANGOTTI, ED JAMES and HERB EIMERMAN.
Anyone making a $20 donation will receive a homemade CD-R of obscurities from
my collection, plus the 4 JAM CDs and an additional CD from the promo pile.
Anyone donating $50 will receive both volumes of the ultracool HI-FI
CHRISTMAS PARTY CDs courtesy of Vandelay Records, plus the 4 JAM CDs, the CD-R and
three promo CDs.
Anyone donating $100 or more will receive FIFTEEN CDs from JAM Recordings,
plus the debut CD by JIM BABJAK's BUZZED MEG, the CD-R, the HI-FI CHRISTMAS
PARTY discs and five more promo CDs.
Our new URL is www.westcottradio.org. There's no content yet, but keep
watching the skies.
Have we said thank you? Well, it's worth repeating: THANK YOU to the
many, many people who stepped up to help us out. What many of you may not
realize is that the Syracuse Community Radio Board of Directors had already
made a decision to kill our webcast; I did not realize that this decision was
final, but your overwhelming response to our pleas enabled us to work around this
seemingly-insurmountable obstacle. You've accomplished the impossible:
you've made Dana & Carl feel humble. And we'll return in February with our
ninth year as THE BEST THREE HOURS OF RADIO ON THE WHOLE FRIGGIN' PLANET!
