Sad indeed. I was just reading about this fellow in Barny Hoskins latest book "Hotel California ...". If any of you are at all interested in the Southern Cal/Laurel Canyon music scene from approx. 1965 to 1979, I highly recommend this book. A little heavy for my tastes on the industry machinations and stuff ala David Geffen and the rest, but overall a "right good read". Anyone else read it? Opinions?

***I read this book a couple of months back and really enjoyed it. I especially liked the coverage of the music industry in that time period as part of my job includes writing about the current state of the music business. Hoskins's book did a good job in explaining how it changed from the idealism of the 60s to becoming the big money machine of the 70s.

If you haven't done so yet, you should read "Laurel Canyon" by Michael Walker, which covers much the same time period and cast of characters. But whereas Hoskins's book is a music industry history, Walker's book is more of a social history of the LA/Laurel Canyon scene. It's certainly the more colorful and entertaining of the two.
