Here's an album by Silver Sun that I noticed on a few end-of-year
lists. Being a one-time fan, I was surprised I hadn't heard more about
it's release late last year but I decided to splash the cash on it
anyway. First reaction after first couple of spins? Great songs, up
there with their best ... but what happened with the production? Vocals
way too forward in the mix on some tracks, guitars muddy and buried on
others, worst of all the drums sound like someone bashing a pair of
biscuit tin lids! And no cymbals coming through at all. What gives?
Can any technical people here explain what went wrong in the production
and mixing of what potentially could have been a great, great album?
