Subject: top ten p pop artists of 90s/2000s
Recent postings RE: power pop gem albums of the past 4-5 yrs got me
thinking, what would the group think be on the top ten power pop
artists/bands of the past 15 or so years? I have my faves, as does
everyone -- probably wildly different lists from person to person. But
I'd be curious who other folks might put on that pedestal, nonetheless.
I think for consideration the artist should have at least 2 notable
regular releases. In no particular order, here are my choices:
Top 10:
XTC
Crowded House
Fountains of Wayne
Greenberry Woods/ Splitsville
Barenaked Ladies
Jellyfish
Gladhands
Matthew Sweet
The Wondermints
Aimee Mann
Honorable mention:
Cockeyed Ghost
Myracle Brah
Cotton Mather
The Nines
Cloud Eleven
Susanna Hoffs/ Bangles
The Merrymakers
Linus of Hollywood
Mark Bacino
Bill Lloyd
I know I'm forgetting some, this is all off the top of my head. And I'm
sure many of you wouldn't consider BNL or Aimee Mann power pop, or might
consider XTC and Crowded House for pre 90s...
