Subject: Top ten p pop artists of 90s/2000s
Now here's something I'll chime in on..I've really lost touch with new music
over the last 18 months..nobody has played me anything new that's grabbed
me..but I do feel I can draw on the last 15 years to contribute to this
thread...
1. The Baltimore Powerpop Scene (I'm going to lump Andy Bopp [Myracle
Brah, Love Nut], Starbelly & Cliff HIllis's work, Greenberry
Woods/Splitsville all together.) I firmly believe had I not grown up being
able to see any of these bands whenever I wanted, I would not be the
powerpop fan I am today.
2. Odds
3. The Posies
4. Ben Folds (BFF & solo work)
5. The Grays (Jason Falkner solo & Jon Brion solo get lumped here)
6. Brendan Benson
7. Matthew Sweet
8. Mike Viola & the Candy Butchers
9. Fountains of Wayne
10. Dada
Honorable Mention:
Semisonic
The Tories
Jellyfish
World Party
Aimee Mann
Elliott Smith
IKE/John Faye Power Trip
Sloan
Super Deluxe
The Semantics -> Millard Powers -> Owsley
Sugar
Teenage Fanclub
