I'm not nearly done yet - lots of revisiting - but I've been saving the
messages to read through (kickstart the memory, track down some I missed).
Here are some Auditeer-type records I can't believe no one mentioned (yet).
**The Mains - THE HIGHER YOU GET THE HIGHER YOU GET - "Rock and Roll" and
the title cut are the best Oasis tracks Oasis never cut. Good hooks and
harmonies throughout.
**McFly - JUST MY LUCK - I dunno, are they the boy band of England or
something? They're young, they're good looking, they have a lot of hit
singles but dammit the record is great. "That Girl" is the perfect example
of an Auditeer powerpop song...or at least what used to be thought of that
way.
**The Charms - new one is out on Little Steven's label, although for some
reason it's initially on sale only at Best Buy. Not very "underground" of
him. But a great record.
then some rock and roll...
*Buckcherry - too rawk for Audities? Almost an entirely new band, and the
big single is probably the worst song on the album (read: there's some
strong songs here).
*Rose Hill Drive - for all of you who listed Wolfmother.
*The New York Dolls - Am I alone here?
*The Paybacks - third time the charm, this time on their own label.
and...
Kudos to mogleyB for the only Fratellis mention I've seen. Ditto whomever
jotted Earl Greyhound.
Can't believe The Hold Steady isn't showing up more - holy CRAP that's a
great record.
Also a sever lack of the old crustys - Dylan, Seger, Ryder, Davies, Neil - I
think Ray and Bob got a mention or two but the others were whitewashed.
Back to listening. Happy Healthy New Years, everyone!
cheers
