Hi all,
The new Bucketfull of Brains just arrived on my doorstep this
morning with the Pipettes on the front cover. As I prepare to peruse it's
contents while quaffing a pint of egg nog I thought I'd post some of my
lists for 2006 (the album list is still percolating in my brain and will be
posted at year end)

                       Top 5 Singles

Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy". Easily the best single I've heard all year and the
slowed down version they did on various pop shows over here was even better!

The Feeling - "Sewn". Not as upbeat and poppy as the rest of the album but
fab all the same.

The Kooks - "Naive". Always cheered me up when I heard this blasting from
the radio.

The Fratellis - "Chelsea Dagger". One to dance about like an idiot to. My
local football team (Glasgow Celtic) seem to have adopted this as a
terracing anthem and I don't blame them.

Snow Patrol - "Chasing Cars". Gorgeous stuff! They've been around for yonks
but have only hit paydirt in recent years - good luck to them I say.

Some of you may remember the late lamented Supernaturals. Well, James McColl
of that band has formed a new 5 piece in which he takes a backseat and a
shapely female (Fili) takes centre stage. They've issued two eps this year
(now deleted) and plan to issue another next year before putting out an
album. Check out their site for pics and downloads, especially "Tiger" -
Lily Allen eat your heart out...

At times this 4 piece from Dundee channel the Revillos and early Buzzcocks
with a dash of Undertones. Check out their mySpace site for info etc. and
the gorgeous unplugged "Face For The Radio". Their album _Hats Off To The
Buskers_ is due 22/1/2007 and I for one can't wait...

Ta ta, Brian
