While people have been going gaga over the pre-fabricated Girl Group-isms of The Pipettes (don't get me wrong, it's fun enough, just not anything special to these ears), Winehouse put out one of the greatest Girl Group albums ever, invoking everything from the Brill Building to Motown to Philly soul to the Wall of Sound, while sounding thoroughly modern.

With her debut FRANK (also a swell record) she was tagged as Norah Jones with a potty mouth, based mostly on the music's jazz/lounge stylings and, well, her potty mouth. :-) But even there it was clear she was an altogether different kind of talent, and her new album BACK IN BLACK proves it. Brilliant stuff, and worth the import price tag, since the record company bozos, in their usual wisdom, have marked her inappropriate for American consumption.

I got a link to an mp3 of this song a couple of days ago in an email list I
subscribe to, and I was blown away. Since then, I've been listening to it
non-stop.

Check out "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse. She's a British soul singer...
