Heck, it'd be my #1 of 2006 if I hadn't voted it my #1 of 2005.

That's probably apt for this 'un, and I have to mention Roxy Music as a big influence too. SUPERNATURE's predecessor, BLACK CHERRY, is a bit less-disco-y, a bit more gritty electric funk, and equally impressive. The first album, FELT MOUNTAIN, is the outlier: Bond soundtrack songs from outer space. I really didn't appreciate the quality of the individual songs on FELT MOUNTAIN until watching the WONDERFUL ELECTRIC live DVD, where the FELT MOUNTAIN songs get split apart from each other and could sine individually when juxtaposed with the more propulsive BLACK CHERRY tracks. (The live DVD also clued me in to how many sounds weren't synths after all, but treated Alison Goldfrapp vocals. You also get a 2nd DVD with a very good FELT MOUNTAIN show.)

It's probably too easy a comparison, but Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory seem to me like Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart for the 2000s. That's a big compliment in my book.

later,

Miles
