I've pushed this one a few times on the list. Guess I didn't sell it as
well as you just did. It's definitely in my top 20. I was looking forward
to this release ever since the first time I saw them play in San Francisco.
Do yourself a favor and see them play if you get the chance. They are a
great live act.
I wish I could track down a copy of their first self-released cd. I've had
to settle for the mp3's I've found, and all I've heard are great.
A couple of Dutch bands on the Excelsior label put out very good albums:
Johan THX JHN - At long last the followup to Pergola. More Byrds influence
here, and some songs remind me of the Moody Blues. Solid all the way
through. Something about their lyrics really get to me.
They clearly appreciate their fans. The cd cover is a pic of a woman who
traveled from South America to Europe to see the band live. I don't want
that to be the only way I can see them...if only someone would back a US
tour for them. Everyone who bought their "Walking Away" single was entered
into a contest to have the band play in the winner's living room. I wonder
if they would have traveled to my living room.

Solo Solopeople - At lease one other person on this list has heard this
album...David Bash brought them to IPO Liverpool. You can hear the
excellent "Come Back To Me", a great piece of midtempo piano pop, on this
year's IPO cd set. If you don't have the IPO set, you can download the song
free on their myspace page. These guys know how to write a pretty pop song.
