Nov./Dec. 2006 Fufkin.com update
The new page is up. Thank you to everyone who has asked about the page –
David Fufkin gives an update on the site and plans for 2007.
We have a bevy of reviews from Mike Bennett – full reviews of Beck, The Hold
Steady, Pere Ubu, Channels, Cheer-Accident, Yo La Tengo, Lindsay Buckingham,
Andrea Perry, Doleful Lions, Pernice Brothers and an excellent compilation
of ‘60s & ‘70s soul sides called The Birmingham Sound.
There are also plenty of capsule reviews – Prototypes, Robyn Hitchcock,
Atlantics (unreleased tracks from this fine ‘70s skinny tie band), Catfish
Haven, Scissor Sisters, Bryan Estepa, Steve (Beat Rodeo) Almaas & Ali Smith,
Bob Dylan, Dog Age, Sparklehorse, Smart Brown Handbag, The Adored, The Nice
Boys, The Black Watch, The Successful Failures, Bang! Bang!, Ruby Dee & the
Snakehandlers, the soundtrack to the movie Fortunes (with songs from Tobin
Sprout), The Supers, The Dresden Dolls, a Rick Nelson tribute, and the
orchestrated pop of Chris Brown.
We have our annual holiday piece from Michael Lynch, and Mike Bennett looks
at the demise of Tower Records.
Fufkin.com will be coming back in 2007 with changes. We will keep you
