But nnone of those guys would have gotten there without Milton Caniff's 
trail-blazing work with Terry & The Pirates. His art still stands head and 
shoulders above the rest. And I say that as a hardcore Eisner fan.
I've got plenty of soul. But Morrison's work on All-Star Superman pissed me 
off.
For my money, the best mainstream comic being written today is Mark 
Andreyko's "Manhunter" series for DC.
