Yeah, I was a big fan of Cockrum's work on Legion of Super-Heroes in the
early '70s, and followed him from there to his revamp of X-Men with writer Len
Wein. Bad week for comics fans, as we also lost Jerry Bails, who was certainly
the father of comics fandom. We opened this week's THIS IS ROCK 'N' ROLL
RADIO by saying farewell to both Bails and Cockrum; couldn't think of an
appropriate song for both of them (and didn't wanna play "The Batman Theme," nor
anything from a super-hero movie), so we went with Blondie's "(I'm Always Touched
By Your) Presence, Dear," an outta-left-field choice that seemed to work
nonetheless.
