The music for "Sometimes When We Touch" written by Barry Mann, who penned more than a few winners, though mostly with his wife; I'd guess that, more than Hill's scarily confessional vocals (I mean, didn't you worry about the girl he was singing about?) may be more accountable for it's hit status.  That said, LONGER FUSE is a decent mid-70s singer-songwriter album, much closer to Dan Fogelberg style schmaltz than Barry Manilow's.
