Yep Roc signs Sloan & You Am I
One of the most successful Canadian bands of the last fifteen years, Sloan
returns to the world stage with Never Hear the End of It, due for a Jan 9th
release on Yep Roc Records. A pop behemoth, Never Hear the End of It clocks
in at no less than thirty tracks long. Self-produced at Sloan's own studio,
Never Hear the End of It is at once lush and familiar, conjuring the AM pop
majesty of the 1970's throughout its expansive track list. Already setting
records in Canada, Never Hear the End of It is filled with slice after slice
of rock perfection.
You Am I are bonafide stars in their native Australia where the band has set
a record for three consecutive straight to No. 1 albums, picked up some
heavyweight admirers/touring partners (Oasis, Sonic Youth), introduced a
slew of foreign acts to their homeland (The Strokes, The Detroit Cobras),
and were asked to gig with the likes of The Who and The Rolling Stones.
Their newest album Convicts is proof why they're stars down under, and has
them poised to make their largest impression ever in the US. From the
feedback-strewn opening punch of "Thank God I've Hit the Bottom" to the
immediacy of insta-hits like "Friends Like You" and "It Ain't Funny How We
Don't Talk Any More," Convicts is a lean, twelve track rock'n'roll machine.
