At the risk of sounding cute, I'll suggest that signing to a major
label in the first place is a conservative gesture, supporting the
system.
Let's face it, most rock musicians are in search of fame and glory,
not the types of people who really could give a crap about
something like politics, or at the very least not the type whose
values are above change if it suits their career.
Proof is the ridiculous series of anti-tax songs by rock bands.
Do you think they actually have an opinion on that subject
that goes deeper than "I want more money?"
There are, of course, a few who are highly intelligent one way
or the other, and I'm sure they understand the inherent
hypocrisy of the rock industry.
