I've always thought politics and social commentary were a necessary part 
of music, whether I agree with the artist or political stance.  Before 
The Beatles bowled me over were the glorious days of folk music, college 
hootenannies, and all that peacenik "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" 
stuff, which eventually spawned the likes of Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and 
most importantly, Allen Sherman.
