Outside of my day gig as record label guy I also perform...usually in
original acts. But I've been helping my sister-in-law, Maureen Leeson, get
her singing career restarted in a cover band recently.
The Maureen Leeson Band performed at the Bell Canada "Rhapsody" Celebrity
Gala after-party on Wednesday in front of about 1000 people. We opened for
singer Chantal Kreviazuk while The Go-Gos' Belinda Carlisle played across
the hall in the main ballroom. The event is the largest charity auction and
fundraiser in Canada annually and they raise millions for Sick Kids Hospital
in Toronto. I'm a big supporter as the hospital saved my own life back in
1964.
It was fun rubbing elbows with major league hockey, football, basketball and
baseball players, the stars of Canadian Idol, music celebs, and actors
(including Graham Greene and Chris Potter of "Legends Of Kung Fu" :-)
