@@@@ Hi Dan,

Very cool! Small world indeed. I actually really enjoyed the show but
it was just a bit odd given Stipe's tendency to face the other
direction. An aside, I remember reading a review of PIL here locally
and Lydon did the same thing the entire show.
 I now must confess I didn't see Dream Syndicate. Why, I don't
know...
Looks like we both made road trips to catch this show!

**** I saw the Stock Pavillion show. Sadly, I hate to say it but I
only saw the last 30 minutes or so. I'll spare the details but I
hated missing so much of the show.
I was hugely into REM at the time and for quite a while. I thought
the music sounded very fresh at that time. Loved them and I hyped
them to all my friends. I don't listen to them much these days and
really never followed the latter half of their career. That said, I'm
with Bill that given the hype it's really hard to expect them to live
up to it.

FWIW: My two years in Madison has lot's of memories for me of great
shows in clubs that I saw the one time and never again...
Three O'Clock, Green on Red, Love Tractor, Lyres, Plasticland, many
more...
